Internship Opportunity

May I Have This Dance founder and master instructor, Nino DiGiulio, is offering a unique opportunity for a talented, ambitious, and hard-working dancer interested in teaching dance as a future career.  Although MayI has offered scholarships before, this specific opportunity goes beyond.  This Internship will offer thousands of dollars worth of training for free.  Learn all of the social partner dances as a lead and follow, how to break them down and teach them, diagnose and help students develop, how to be a great group lesson instructor, private lesson instructor, and navigate the crazy-fun world of social dance as a professional role model and inspiration to others.  The intern may also have the opportunity to learn about the business side of a dance school, managing teams, navigating relationships, choreographing, competitions, running events and travel, and much more from some of the best professionals in the industry.

The successful candidate must be able to commit to participating in at least 20 hours of classes per week, about 4 or 5 days per week--usually choosing from M-Th 6pm to 10pm, Saturdays 10am to 3pm, or Sundays 2pm to 6pm. They must be able to attend practice parties at least two Fridays (8pm to 11:15pm) and Sundays (6pm to 9:30pm) per month.  They should be able to attend regular weekly Instructor Training on Tuesday afternoons, occasional Wed or Fridays early evenings, and occasional Sunday early afternoons.  The Internship is approximately 6 months, but can be extended.  Since it's all training, this internship is unpaid.  However, it is possible that the Internship can grow into a paid position as an Instructor and develop into a very rewarding career. Only serious applicants that can commit to this rigorous training schedule need apply.  There may be 2 or 3 Internship positions available.

If you are interested in opportunities at May I Have This Dance, but cannot commit to the expectations of the Internship, we do have a limited number of scholarships available.  If you are an experienced social dance instructor and interested in joining the MayI staff, we are always accepting applications.
